Al Ahly defeated Ghazl El Mahalla SC 3-0 on Friday night at Al Ahly stadium in the second week of the Egyptian Premier League.
The defending champions continued their strong start to the season after securing their second win in the league.
Our striker Mohamed Sherief scored two goals, while Mahmoud Kahraba found the target to give us a 3-0 victory.
Al Ahly’s starting eleven for the match consisted of, Mohamed El Shenawy, Ayman Ashraf, Ali Maaloul, Badr Benoun, Mohamed Hany, Aliou Dieng, Hamdy Fathy, Kahraba, Afsha, Geraldo and Mohamed Sheief.
Hamdy Fathy was called to the starting line-up, minutes before the starting whistle of the match, as Amr El Soulia picked up a leg injury during the warm-up.
Our Eagles had a strong start to the match and Sherief had a chance to open the score after he received a fantastic pass from Kahraba but Sherief could not reach the ball before El Mahalla’s goalkeeper.
Minutes later, Sherief repaid Kahraba as he provided him with a pass that put him one against one with the goalkeeper but Kahraba’s shot failed to find the target.
Geraldo had a chance to open the score as he received a perfect cross from Maaloul but his header missed the target to keep the game scoreless.
The Eagles had another two attempts by Afsha and Kahraba but both shots were saved by Al Mahalla’s goalkeeper, who kept a clean sheet in the first half.
Al Ahly players had a strong start to the second half as we managed to open the score. Maaloul provided an amazing pass to Sherief who dribbled past the goalkeeper, giving Al Ahly the lead.
Hamdy Fathy had a chance to double the score but his shot went over the bar.
Kahraba added the second goal in the match after Sherief’s header hit the bar and reached Kahraba, who put the ball in the back of the net to make the score 2-0.
Sherief added the third goal for Al Ahly in the 80th minute after a fantastic shot from inside the box.
Our Eagles won the match and reached a total of six points after winning the first two games in the league, keeping an unbeaten run under the command of our manager Pitso Mosimane.
