A draw away from home

The Red Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw against El Gouna at Khaled Bishara Stadium in the Egyptian Premier League.

Marcel Koller's men lost the first two points in the league this season after starting the title defending campaign with four straight victories.

Our French striker Anthony Modeste opened the score in the last minutes of the first half, marking his first goal in the Egyptian League.

Modeste received a long pass inside the box, controlled the ball with a clever touch to drag the defender out of play. Modeste then did what he does best and put the ball in the back of the net.

In the last minute of the first half, the home team were awarded a penalty after the ball touched Mohamed Hany's hands inside the box and Ahmed Belhadji converted it to make the score 1-1.

The second half was an all attack performance from our players to score the second goal.

Koller used his bench to add more power to the attacking line with Emam Ashour, Aliou Dieng, Percy Tau, Karim Fouad and Karim El Debes joining the game.

We created several chances to break the home team's defense but we missed sharpness in front of the goal and lost many balls in the final third.

Despite the draw, the Red Eagles reached the top of the table with 13 points, the same points as Pyramids who played one game more.
