Karim Fouad, Al Ahly’s defender, spoke ahead of the team’s first game in the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday against C.F. Monterrey of Mexico.

In an exclusive interview with us, Fouad talked about what it means for him to be participating in the competition for the first time, his favorite position on the field, and his ambitions going into the tournament.

“It’s a big event. We will do our best to please our fans. It means a lot for me to be here with the team and participate in the competition. Hopefully, we will continue to come back here again in the future.”

“Everyone in the team is ready to play when the coach needs him. Personally, I am ready to play whenever called upon.”

“We benefited a lot from the EPL Cup. Of course, Saturday’s encounter will be a tough game and hopefully we will do our best to reach the next round.”

"I am a right back. However I can play as a left back, right winger, left winger and also in midfield.”

“Finally, I hope that we will reach the final and meet up the expectations of the fans, who are very supportive to us.”
