Sami Komsan, Al Ahly’s football first team assistant coach, spoke ahead of Saturday’s game against C.F. Monterrey in the preliminary round of the competition.

In the pre-match press conference, Komsan talked about the team’s preparations for the match, the team’s ambitions ahead of the tournament, and commented on the team’s challenges going into the tournament.

“We are very happy to be here for the seventh time in the club’s history and for the second consecutive season. We know that our fans want a better position from last year’s third place.”

“We will try to do our best despite the huge number of absences that we have. We have great faith in the current squad and we know that they are able to overcome all the obstacles. Hopefully, we will meet the fans’ expectations.”

“At Al Ahly, we support all of our national teams. In a lot of times, we prioritize the nation’s general good of our own.”

“We only concentrate on ourselves. We represent Al Ahly and the club’s history. We respect all our opponents but we focus on ourselves. We are here for the seventh time.”

“We don’t look for excuses. We are working hard and are fully concentrated on tomorrow’s game, as it will be our starting point to the final of the competition. Hopefully, we meet the expectations of our fans.”
