Mohamed Mahmoud, Al Ahly’s football first team attacking midfielder, sat with us in an exclusive interview to talk about his ambitions for the new season.

Mahmoud, who recently penned a new 5-year contract with Al Ahly, spoke about Al Ahly’s new coach, his conversation with captain Mahmoud El Khatib, and his main goal for the next season.

Last season…

“Last season was an exception and I don’t believe that we will have the same results once again. We are focused on our preparations for the new season and hopefully we will be back on track.”

Fresh start…

“Hopefully, I’ll have a great start to the season. My biggest motivator is captain Mahmoud El Khatib without a doubt.”

Mahmoud El Khatib…

“I remember during our trip to Morocco for the 2021 CAF Champions League final, captain El Khatib wanted to talk to me during our flight. He told me that the he has a full report on me and that he believes in my abilities despite the fact that I was out for so long due to being injured. Such a talk was really important for me at the time and it was one of the happiest moments in my life to hear this from a childhood idol of mine.

Childhood memories…

“I preferred going to the stadiums since I was a child. Watching a game on the television is great but living the atmosphere live at the stadium is something else.”

New manager…

“Mr. Koller has very good man management skills. He treats everyone equally and fairly. He made it clear to us since day one that the most dedicated players are the ones who have the biggest chances to feature regularly in the starting line-up.”

Main goal…

“Our main goal is to win all the competitions in the next season and please our fans. We will do our best to make them happy.”
