The Reds secured a 1-0 win against Sudan’s Al Hilal in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, taking a one-goal advantage into the second leg in Mauritania.
The match started at a high tempo, with both teams pushing hard. The Reds quickly took control, creating an early chance in the 7th minute when Mohamed Hany’s cross found Ashraf Bencharki’s foot, but Al Hilal’s goalkeeper denied the attempt.
The breakthrough came in the 12th minute when Bencharki’s cross was initially saved, but the rebound fell to Hany, who unleashed a powerful strike into the top corner, giving Al Ahly the lead.
In the second half, the Eagles pressed forward, with Wessam Abou Ali, Ramy Rabia, and Emam Ashour all coming close to scoring but unable to find the back of the net again.
The referee then blew the final whistle, with Al Ahly emerging victorious and securing a slight advantage ahead of the trip to Mauritania.
