Al Ahly welcomed on Wednesday a delegation from the US embassy in Cairo, ahead of the club's participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled next month in the US.
Ruben Harutunian, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the US embassy, led the delegation and was joined by Tom Tanner, the embassy’s Deputy Spokesperson, Ream Mary-Catherine, Deputy Cultural Attaché, Sarah Mossaad from the embassy’s cultural section, and Ahmed Lotfy and Mahmoud Rohaim from the embassy’s press section.
The delegation was received by Khaled Mortagy, Acting Vice President of the Club and the club's Treasurer, along with Gamal Gabr, head of Media department, Khaled Morsi, manager of the Gezira branch, Amir Tawfik, Executive Director of Al Ahly Football Company, Naira Ali, Marketing General Manager of the Company, and Sherif Fouad, Media Advisor to the Board of Directors.
This visit came as part of the efforts to strengthen cooperation between the club and the embassy.
Mortagy expressed the club board’s appreciation for the embassy’s support, particularly in facilitating travel visas for Al Ahly's delegation. He emphasized that this collaboration is expected to grow in the coming period.
In response, Harutunian revealed his enthusiasm with Al Ahly's participation in the competition, adding that there will be more coordination between the embassy and the club.
He also mentioned upcoming initiatives in the lead-up to the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup between Al Ahly and Inter Miami, including a collaboration between the social media departments of both teams.
Several proposals were discussed during the visit, including offering educational courses to a delegation from the club and inviting members of the American community in Egypt and embassy staff to attend the tournament’s matches at the club's branches.
