Al Ahly's defender Saad Samir stated that Al Ahly accomplished a historic achievement by winning the bronze medal in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Saad added that the players hope to maintain the momentum of the FIFA Club World Cup in the CAF Champions League group stage opener against Sudan’s Al Merrikh SC.

“We participated in the FIFA Club World Cup. It was a heavy tournament on both fitness and tactical levels. We achieved a great result by clinching the bronze medal and we hope to maintain the momentum in the CAF Champions League matches.”
