Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla, head of the team's medical staff, stated that Akram Tawfik, our midfielder, suffered a facial fracture while training with the Egyptian national team during the international break. 

The player's injury forced him to withdraw from Egypt's training camp ahead of the Pharaohs' opening game in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Angola.

"Based on the scans that were conducted to the player by the national team's medical staff and the additional scans that we did, the player is suffering from a facial fracture. Tawfik was referred to a plastic surgeon to suture the wound."

"After analyzing all the medical options, the decision was made to exclude surgery and continue with a conservative treatment."

"Akram will be back to training after two weeks and will wear a mask for a further three weeks."
