Hamdy: It’s a Great Honor for Any Player to Play for Al Ahly
In an exclusive interview with us, Amar Hamdy, our midfielder, expressed his happiness after returning to Al Ahly following the end of his loan to Al Ittihad.
Hamdy spoke with us about his ambitions with the club after wearing the Red Jersey again.
The Return
“Amir Tawfik, Director of Marketing and Transfers, contacted me and told me that the coaching staff wanted me to return back to the team. It was a special moment for me."
"It is a great honor for any player to play for Al Ahly and I will do my best to help the team."
"I asked to leave on loan in the last two seasons to gain more experience and I am ready now for this challenge.”
“The competition between the players is a positive sign for the team. All big clubs need to have several players in the same position. The team participates in many competitions and having good players will help the team compete in different stages."
"Winning titles is not easy as all teams fight to show their best when they face Al Ahly. They want to appear in the best way against the champions."
Conversation with Mosimane
“Pitso Mosimane, our head coach, spoke to me after Al Ahly’s game against Al Ittihad. He praised my performance and told me that he wants me to help the team. He also told me to keep the hard work and maintain my performance. This motivated me a lot to put on more hard work to deserve my place at Al Ahly.”
“Mosimane’s speech puts more responsibility on me. Having the trust of a great coach like Pitso Mosimane is a fantastic feeling."
Relationship with his Teammates
“I have a great relationship with Al Ahly players. I always talk with Mohamed El Shenawy, Salah Mohsen, Saad Samir, Ahmed Ramadan, Mohamed Mahmoud, and Nasser Maher.”
El Shenawy’s Message
“I received a great message from the team’s captain Mohamed El Shenawy. He told me that I must keep fighting to return to Al Ahly and to help the team in the upcoming challenges. He told me, it is not easy to earn a starting place at Al Ahly."
Two Champions League Titles in a Row
“The current generation accomplished a great achievement by winning two consecutive CAF Champions League titles."
"Defeating Zamalek, our arch-rivals, in the CAF Champions League final was special and our fans celebrated this title in a very amazing way. It will always be a beautiful memory for all of us. I think it is the most important title in the club’s history. It reminds me of our fifth title in 2006 which we won in the last minute away from home thanks to a beautiful goal from Mohamed Aboutrika."
FIFA Club World Cup
“I want to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup. It is a big dream for me and I hope that I will be able to fulfill it."
Favorite Positions
“I prefer to play as a midfielder and I can also play on the flanks, but I am ready to play in any position that the coaching staff feels suitable for me.”
Diet Regime
“Everyone knows how much I love eating but I know that my diet regime will be different here at Al Ahly. El Shenawy told me that there are big restrictions here, especially that Dr.Abdelrahman Saeed, the team’s nutritionist, is very firm on that matter."
Denying the Rumors
“I have never said that I must participate regularly to return to Al Ahly, and all the news that mentioned this statement are fake. Football does not work like that. My duty is to work hard and to do my best during training to earn the coaching staff’s trust."
Message to Al Ahly Fans
“I would like to thank Al Ahly fans for their great support and I promise them that I will fight to win all titles to make them happy.”
“I feel so happy for the great support that I receive from Al Ahly fans. I will fight to meet their expectations."
