Amir Tawfik, Al Ahly director of marketing and transfers, denied that the club put some of the team’s foreign players in the market.

Tawfik added that all the news, related to selling or purchasing any player, are entirely unfounded.

“It’s too early to speak about selling or buying any player, as this issue is always discussed by the end of the season.”

“We are far from the end of the season and the coaching staff is the ones who are responsible for evaluating the players. They discuss their vision with the planning committee, in coordination with Mahmoud El Khatib, the club’s president.”

“I was surprised by the news especially that they spread at a sensitive time as we are preparing for an important encounter against Tunisia’s Esperance in the CAF Champions League semi-finals.”

“I respect the press but they must be accurate of what they say. These rumors will affect the team while we are representing the nation in the CAF Champions League.”
