Hussein El Shahat, Al Ahly’s football first team winger sat with us in an exclusive interview to talk about a lot of important topics.
El Shahat, who won with Al Ahly two CAF Champions League titles, talked about his happiest moments ever since joining Al Ahly, reflected on last year’s performance, and spoke about many other important files.
Last year’s performance…
“We were not up to the expectations last season but we are focused on being on track once again next season.
Injuries come in second. We’ve been playing non-stop for three years. So, having a lot of injuries in our team is completely normal and that affected our performance last year.”
Walid Soliman’s retirement…
“Of course, captain Walid Soliman is a big player and we all respect him. I wish him all the best of luck in his future.”
Talking about the 2020 CAF Champions League triumph…
“My goal against Wydad AC in the 2020 CAF Champions League semi-finals is one of the best goals in my career.”
“The final of the 2020 CAF Champions League was a must win game for us. I still remember the chance which I missed before Afsha scored the winning goal. Of course, I’d have liked to score but what mattered most is that we won the title. I remember our team talks when we told each other it doesn’t matter who scores as long as we win the game.”
Happiest moment with Al Ahly…
“I have a lot of happy moments. When I signed for the club, when I won the two CAF Champions League titles with Al Ahly, and of course when we won two bronze medals in the FIFA Club World Cup.”
Big dream…
“One big dream of mine is to win the FIFA Club World Cup with the team.“
Final message to our fans...
“I know you were not satisfied with last year’s performance. I promise you that we will be up to your expectations next year and we will do our best to make you happy.”
