The Reds secured a 2-0 victory over Smouha on Tuesday in the Egyptian Premier League to achieve important three points in our journey to defend our title.
Our Eagles showed their desire to win the game and created several opportunities from the start. Despite early pressure, Al Ahly’s attempts were initially stopped by Smouha’s defense. In the 27th minute, Wessam Abou Ali found the back of the net, but the goal was cancelled after the VAR check.
The breakthrough finally came in the final minutes of the first half when Karim El Debes, who replaced the injured Yahya Attiat Allah, delivered a precise cross to Mohamed Magdy Afsha, who gave Al Ahly a 1-0 lead with a beautiful header.
The team maintained their dominance in the second half, and in the 50th minute, Emam Ashour doubled the lead after a brilliant pass from Hussein El Shahat that broke the visitors' defense. Ashour calmly dribbled past the goalkeeper and finished skilfully to make it 2-0.
The Reds continued to create opportunities, aiming to score more goals but their control of the game ensured they closed out a comfortable 2-0 victory, securing three valuable points.
This victory sent our team to the top of the table with 15 points before our journey to Ivory Coast to face Stade d'Abidjan in the CAF Champions League.
