Al Ahly’s U-16 side opened their campaign at the inaugural Al Ahly International Tournament with a 2-1 win over the UAE-based Barcelona Academy at the club’s Nasr City grounds on Friday.

Ahmed Abdelhadi gave the hosts an early lead with a close-range finish from a left-wing cross, before Mohamed Shady doubled the advantage with a header from Muhannad Abdel Nabi’s delivery. Lucas Ognasian pulled one back for Barcelona, but Al Ahly held on for the win.

In Group B, Italy’s Juventus defeated Hungary’s Miszölc Budapest 3-1 in a morning fixture. Ceramica Cleopatra claimed a 1-0 victory over Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen, with Moaz Mohamed Aboulfotouh scoring the winner in the final minute after an evenly balanced contest.

Estonia began their Group C campaign with a 2-1 win over Karakhstan, while ZED edged Italy’s Donatello Udine 2-1, thanks to goals from Mohamed Islam and Marwan Mohamed. Manzo Salvador scored for the Italian side.

The three-day tournament, running from Nov. 28–30, features 18 youth teams from leading clubs and academies worldwide, including Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Barcelona Academy.

The top two from each group and the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarterfinals, followed by semifinals, a third-place playoff and the final.

Matches are played on full-size natural-grass pitches, with games consisting of two 20-minute halves. The tournament is jointly organized by Al Ahly Football Company and Live Adventure Company.
