Al Ahly board honors women’s basketball team after historic WBLA 2025

 win Al Ahly’s board of directors, led by club president Mahmoud El Khatib, honored the women’s first-team basketball squad and the technical, administrative, and medical staff following their first-ever Basketball League Africa (WBLA 2025) title, which the club hosted in recent days.

The ceremony was attended by Ahmed Hassan, president of Sporting Club; Mohamed El Garhy, board member and head of the championship’s organizing committee; Rowaida Hisham, board member; Dr. Saad Shalaby, Al Ahly’s CEO; and Khaled El Awady, general manager of sports activities and tournament director.

El Khatib thanked the championship’s organizing committee, subcommittees, and all club departments for their efforts in ensuring a successful tournament, highlighting Al Ahly’s historic standing in African basketball.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, El Khatib presented a special shield to Sporting Club’s president in recognition of the strong ties between the two clubs, symbolized by Sporting player Hagar Amer’s participation with Al Ahly in the tournament. In return, the Sporting president presented El Khatib with a club shield.

Commemorative plaques were also given to the players and the technical, administrative, and medical staff.
