Al Ahly Break Real Madrid’s Record
Al Ahly succeeded to break Real Madrid’s record after qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup for the sixth time.
Friday night’s victory sends us to the competition for the sixth time in history while Real Madrid appeared in the competition on 5 occasions. We are currently in second place as Auckland City FC are placed first after qualifying for 9 times.
We extended our record after defeating Zamalek SC on Friday in the CAF Champions League final as Al Ahly becomes the African team with the most appearances in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Red Eagles participated in the tournament for the first time in 2005 and then we qualified for the second consecutive time in 2006 when we finished third, which is our best record in the competition.
We also played in 2008, 2012 and 2013 and we seek to set an impressive performance in this global competition this season.
Our victory over Zamalek gave us our 21st continental title and we are still chasing Real Madrid who have 24 continental titles.
