Al Ahly coach Thorup confident ahead of Young Africans game

Al Ahly head coach Jess Thorup said his side are ready for Friday’s CAF Champions League match against Tanzania’s Young Africans, stressing his team’s focus on securing victory.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference at Borg El Arab Stadium, Thorup said Al Ahly had prepared well despite a recent period affected by the absence of several international players, during which the club relied on younger squad members.

“We are facing a strong opponent with the same number of points,” Thorup said.

“Our aim is to deliver our best performance. The players have trained with great intensity and we are well prepared for this match.”

Thorup added that his full attention was on the Young Africans encounter, particularly with several new signings included in the matchday squad.

He also acknowledged the impact of international call-ups, saying the club had adapted to the situation.

“We want to continue the winning run we achieved before the long break,” Thorup said.
