Al Ahly’s Board Asks EFA to Appoint Foreign Referees in Our Upcoming Games

Al Ahly Sporting Club’s board of directors sent an official letter to the Egyptian Football Association, EFA, calling for the appointment of foreign referees to all our upcoming games.

In their letter to the EFA, the board clarified that Al Ahly will fully take care of the expenses of the foreign referees, as per article 110 of the EFA’s regulations.

Article 110:

“If any club requests from the EFA the appointment of foreign referees and the EFA approves, then that club will take care of all the expenses of the referees two weeks prior to the date of the match. “

In case the EFA doesn’t approve the appointment of foreign referees in these controversial games, then Al Ahly will ask the EFA to reveal the truth to the public and explain the reasons behind their disapproval especially that the club will take care of the expenses of the referees.

Article 111:

“The EFA bears all the expenses of foreign referees during the controversial games, which are decided by the EFA’s board.”

Moreover, the club’s board urged the EFA to clarify the reasons behind setting a condensed schedule of games for Al Ahly.

In addition to that, the club wants to know the reasons behind playing several opponents twice in the league, while we still haven’t faced Aswan SC and Misr Lel Makkasa SC in the first half of the season.

As a result of such a schedule, Al Ahly will have to play two consecutive games outside from our home ground; as we faced Ghazl El Mahalla SC in Mahalla and then will head to Alexandria in order to face Al Ittihad Alexandria Club on Thursday.

After facing Al Ittihad Alexandria Club, we will then play Zamalek SC in the Cairo derby before taking part in a decisive match on May 15 in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

On top of that, referees have been committing unprecedented errors against our team in the league which negatively impacted the outcome of more than one game in the competition.

Finally, Al Ahly previously sent numerous letters to the EFA urging them to find a solution to the referees’ mistakes, but the EFA has been turning a blind eye to the board’s requests.
