Al Ahly Win Cup Title on Penalties for Fourth Time

Al Ahly succeeded to add the Egyptian Cup title to our historic season as we won the CAF Champions League and Egyptian League titles to secure the treble.

Our Eagles defeated Talae’a El Gaish 3-2 on penalties after the regular time and extra-time ended with a 1-1 draw. 

We succeeded to clinch the cup title on penalties on four occasions. ironically, we held a 1-1 draw in the four matches, and we secured the title also every time. 

The tale began in 1980-1981 season, as we won the final game 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the regular time. 

2002-2003 season witnessed our second Cup title after the match went to penalties, as we clinched the title against Ismaily SC 4-3 on penalties. 

The third time was in 2009-2010, as we defeated Haras El Hodoud SC 5-4 also on penalties after a 1-1 draw. 

The fourth time came after winning tonight’s game against Talae’a El Gaish, as we won the game 3-2 on penalties to secure the second treble in our history.

Al Ahly succeeded to win the Egyptian League title, CAF Champions League title, and Egyptian Cup title to secure the historic treble after an impressive season from the Red Eagles.
