Al Ahly’s women’s handball team suffered a narrow 24–23 defeat to Angola’s Petro Atletico in the final of the African Women’s Handball Champions League in Morocco on Monday.
Al Ahly went into halftime with a 12-9 lead, but Petro staged a strong second-half comeback to snatch the title by a single goal in a closely fought contest.
The result brings a hard-fought end to Al Ahly’s campaign, as the Cairo-based club fell just short of claiming the continental crown.
