Al Ahly winger Hussein El Shahat will be sidelined for at least seven weeks after scans confirmed a hamstring tendon tear, the club’s doctor said on Wednesday.
“Medical tests have revealed that El Shahat sustained a significant injury during the match against Ismailia Electricity,” said Ahmed Gaballah, Al Ahly’s team doctor.
“He suffered a tear in the hamstring tendon and is currently undergoing a physiotherapy and rehabilitation programme. The initial recovery period will not be less than seven weeks.”
Interim coach Emad El Nahas was forced into an early substitution during Al Ahly’s 4-2 win over Ismailia Electricity last week, with Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi coming on to replace the injured El Shahat.
