The observer of our game against Esperance in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals received a written pledge signed from the Tunisian police that they are responsible for the security of Al Ahly team. 

Discussions are ongoing between Mahmoud El Khatib, the club's president and head of Al Ahly’s delegation in Tunisia, and Sayed Abdelhafiz, Al Ahly’s director of football, to decide Al Ahly's stance after the game was delayed due to clashes between the Tunisian police and Esperance fans. 

Match officials, Al Ahly players and Esperance players left the pitch during the warm-up as they were not able to breathe due to the gas bombs fired by the police towards the fans to control the riots in the stands.
