Sports minister: Al Ahly-Vodafone partnership among sport's most successful

Youth and Sports Minister Gohar Nabil said Al Ahly's partnership with Vodafone is one of the best and most successful commercial partnerships in sport, adding that the agreement reflects the stature and value of the Egyptian club.

Nabil made the remarks during a ceremony held at the Giza Pyramids on Monday, attended by Al Ahly's board of directors led by president Mahmoud El Khatib, several cabinet ministers, the boards of Al Ahly Football Company, Al Ahly Sports Facilities Company and Red Castle Company, Vodafone representatives, and prominent figures from the sports and media sectors.

The event marked the signing of the largest sports investment agreement in the Middle East, granting Vodafone the naming rights to the club's new stadium while also concluding a new sponsorship agreement.

Nabil said the partnership aligns with the Egyptian leadership's vision under President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to invest in human development, expressing confidence that the agreement would benefit Al Ahly, Vodafone and Egyptian sport, particularly football and its supporters.

Drawing on his experience in both the sports and investment sectors, Nabil said the partnership brings together two leading institutions united by a commitment to maintaining their leadership positions and pursuing continued success.

"This partnership will contribute to further success that serves Egyptian sport in general and football in particular," he said.

Nabil added that he was proud to have grown up at Al Ahly but stressed that, as sports minister, his responsibility is to serve all Egyptians without bias.

"I learned at Al Ahly that representing Egypt and raising its flag is the highest priority," he said. "Today, I am the minister for all Egyptians and for Egyptian sport, and I support all sporting institutions and stakeholders to help raise Egypt's profile in every sport and on every stage."
