Newly appointed Al Ahly head coach Jess Thorup delivered a message to the club’s global fanbase following his official unveiling at a press conference held at the club’s headquarters in El-Gezira on Friday.
“My message to all Al Ahly supporters around the world: I’m here now… and I can’t wait to see you all. Together, we will achieve many great results,” said the Danish coach.
Thorup was named head coach of the record African champions earlier this week on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 55-year-old’s appointment followed consultations between club president Mahmoud El-Khatib, the Planning Committee, and the club’s sporting director.
Thorup brings a strong pedigree to the Cairo-based side, having won the Danish Superliga twice, first with FC Midtjylland in 2017 and later with FC Copenhagen in the 2021–22 season.
