Volleyball: Al Ahly drawn in Group A of Women's African Clubs Championship

Hosts Al Ahly have been drawn in Group A of the Women's African Clubs Volleyball Championship, which runs from 11 to 24 April.


The Red Eagles will face Mayo Kani Evolution of Cameroon, CO Descartes of Ivory Coast and Ethiopia's National Alcohol Ethiopia team in the first group.


The draw was held on Sunday in the presence of Mohamed El-Ghazawy, a member of Al Ahly's board and head of the tournament's organising committee, Bouchra Hajij, president of the African Volleyball Confederation, and Yasser Qamar, president of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation. Representatives of participating teams and organising committees also attended.


Organisers said they had put in place a comprehensive plan covering logistical and administrative arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.


The groups are as follows:


Group A: Al Ahly (Egypt) Mayo Kani Evolution (Cameroon) CO Descartes (Cote D'Ivoire) National Alcohol (Ethiopia)


Group B: Kenya Pipeline (Kenya) VC La Loi (DR Congo) Sococim (Senegal) Kalibi Volleyball Club (Ghana) Gender Light (Burundi)


Group C: Club Feminin de Carthage (Tunisia) Customs Service (Nigeria) Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Kenya) Kampala Central City Authority (Uganda) Les Aigles du Congo (DR Congo)


Group D: Kenya Commercial Bank (Kenya) Litto Volleyball (Cameroon) Vipers (Nigeria) ARSU National Volleyball Club (Seychelles)
