
WBLA 2025: Al Ahly beat Rwanda’s REG BBC to maintain perfect start
Al Ahly women's basketball team extended their perfect start in the 29th Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) with a dominant 88-60 win over Rwanda’s REG BBC in their second group-stage match.
The game, held at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Hall on Sunday, saw Al Ahly deliver a clinical performance, securing their second consecutive victory in the continental tournament.
Al Ahly are hosting the tournament from 5 to 15 December.
Coach Tarek Khairy’s game plan emphasized speed and precision in attack, combined with strong focus in both defense and offense, allowing the team to maintain control throughout the match and seal a comfortable win.
The first quarter ended with Al Ahly leading 27-12. They extended their advantage in the second quarter, going into halftime at 45-26.
The Red Devils continued to dominate in the third, leading 66-44, before closing out the game with a commanding 88-60 victory in the final quarter.
The hosts opened their WBLA 2025 campaign with a commanding 91-62 victory over Cote d’Ivoire’s Friends Basketball Association on Friday.
Al Ahly women’s team will face Angola’s Sporting Clube de Luanda on Tuesday in their final group-stage match of the 29th WBLA.
