Al Ahly’s board of directors, headed by president Mahmoud El Khatib, discussed during their meeting on Friday the Egyptian Football Association’s response to the club’s previous letter.

Our board of directors sent an official letter earlier last week to the EFA calling for the appointment of foreign referees to all our upcoming games, given the numerous errors that referees have been committing against Al Ahly in the club’s previous games.

The club’s board appreciated the EFA’s response, in which the association acknowledged the fact that the referees have been committing unintentional errors during Al Ahly’s previous games.

Al Ahly’s board pointed out more than once to the EFA that the club has faith in the Egyptian referees; however, the club made it clear in the past that the association needs to intervene in order to limit the number of errors that are done in our games.

Despite receiving a pledge from the association to improve the performances of the Egyptian referees, yet still there are influential mistakes that affect the outcome of our matches.

Therefore, the club’s board insists on handing all our upcoming games to foreign world class referees, as per the EFA’s regulations which gives the right for any team to request the appointment of foreign referees 15 days prior to the official date of the match.

Finally, Al Ahly will fully take care of the expenses of the foreign referees, as per article 110 of the EFA’s regulations.
