Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly’s president, thanked the UAE for the great hospitality that our delegation enjoyed during the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup and praised the team’s efforts in winning the bronze medal of the FIFA Club World Cup. 

During the press conference which Al Ahly’s board of directors held in partnership with ValU Company on Wednesday in the Four Seasons Hotel to promote for the club’s membership, El Khatib made sure to send a special message to UAE’s authorities. 

“We would like to thank our brothers In the UAE for the great hospitality during the FIFA Club World Cup and we would like to congratulate them on the successful organization of the tournament.” 

El Khatib also praised our team after achieving the bronze medal for the second year in a row and the third time in our history despite all the challenges that we faced.

“It is a new achievement for our club. It is a historic medal that came after very difficult circumstances.” 

“When we knew that there is a clash of dates between the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA Club World Cup, we held talks with FIFA, CAF and the Egyptian Football Association (EFA). However, in the end, we could not reach a solution so we decided to support the national team and considered Egypt’s participation in the AFCON as a priority and placed the national team’s interests above ours.”

“Finally, I would like to thank the players, the coaching staff and everyone associated with the team for their efforts to give us a special medal.”
