Al Ahly’s board of directors, headed by president Mahmoud El Khatib, handed Hassan Hamdy, the club’s former president, and Hassan Moustafa, President of the International Handball Federation, Al Ahly’s Golden Medal in recognition of their contributions and efforts to serve the club.

During Wednesday’s ceremony, El Khatib was keen to give a brief speech and recall some of his memories with Hamdy.

“I was honored to be Hassan Hamdy’s teammate and be with him in the club’s board.”

“I learned a lot from Hamdy on the managerial level and how to deal with difficult situations.”

“A lot of generations have shaped the club’s history and passed on the torch from one generation to another.”

“Let me tell you about an anecdote that happened between me and Hassan during our match together against Borussia Mönchengladbach. When we conceded the second goal in the game, I saw Hassan’s leadership and command on the pitch and his advice that he gave to our teammates.”
