Sayed Abdelhafiz, Al Ahly’s director of football, stated that the team will turn the page on the league competition after the 1-1 draw against Zamalek on Saturday night in the Egyptian League.

Abdelhafiz added that the team will now start focusing on the CAF Champions League quarter-finals against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

“It was an important match during this phase of the season. However, we have to turn the page as we are going to enter a crucial phase in the season with our upcoming matches in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup.”

“It was important to win tonight’s game but it is still very early in the league competition. You are going to win games and drop points. However, in the end, we have the head-to-head advantage against Zamalek.”

“We are going to enter a closed training camp on Thursday to prepare for Saturday’s game against Sundowns in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.”

“We have to look at the European leagues and see how the top teams are also subject to pressure. Even these teams complain from having an overwhelmed schedule.”

“Ajayi is ready and he has been training with us in the last two days. Also, Ali Maaloul is expected to be fit by the second leg against Sundowns in South Africa.”
