Our Director of Football, Sayed Abdelhafiz commented on the team’s 1-0 victory over AS SONIDEP in the first leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32.

Abdelhafiz highlighted the importance of today’s victory, saying that the team was able to win despite the tough weather and the pitch’s bad condition.

“We played well today, despite of the match’s difficult circumstances. Also, we achieved an important victory, while missing out on several players such as: Walid Soliman, Marwan Mohsen, Amr El Soulia, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Ramy Rabia and Nasser Maher.”

“Therefore, it is important to have a squad that is full of good players who are able to play when needed. Especially, that we are participating in competitions that require consistency in results like the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.”

“We will start our preparations for upcoming match against Al Ittihad, according to the training plan that will be decided by our manager Pitso Mosimane. Al Ittihad is a great team that consists of a lot of talented players.”

Abdelhafiz confirmed that the team will start their preparations for Al Ahly’s upcoming match on the 28th of December, right after returning to Cairo.

Also, our Director of Football thanked the club’s board member Mohamed El Damaty who prepared Al Ahly’s trip to Niger, but wasn’t able to travel after testing positive for COVID-19.

Lastly, Abdelhafiz stressed the huge responsibility with representing a club like Al Ahly, stating that it requires a special kind of personality to be able to cope with different kinds of pressure.
