Al Ahly were held to a 1–1 draw by Ceramica Cleopatra at Arab Contractors Stadium in the opening round of the Egyptian Premier League's final phase.
The result takes Al Ahly to 41 points, while Ceramica Cleopatra move to 39.
The match was overshadowed by controversy after referee Mahmoud Wafaa declined to award a clear penalty to Al Ahly in second-half stoppage time, when the ball appeared to strike the hand of Ceramica player Ahmed Hany.
Fagrie Lakay gave Ceramica the lead five minutes before halftime with a long-range strike, while defender Yasser Ibrahim equalised eight minutes from time.
