Al Ahly open Egyptian Super Cup campaign against Ceramica Cleopatra

Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly will face Ceramica Cleopatra in the opening match of the Egyptian Super Cup on Thursday at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. Cairo time (1500 GMT).

The 2025 edition of the tournament, hosted in Abu Dhabi from 6 to 9 November, features four teams under the new format introduced in the 2023-24 season. The competition previously involved only two sides.

Joining Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra are Egypt Cup winners Zamalek and Pyramids FC, who were selected by the organizing committee. Pyramids will meet Zamalek in Thursday’s second semi-final, with the winners of both matches advancing to Sunday’s final.

Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra have met twice before in the same round of the Super Cup, with the Cairo giants winning on both occasions.

Al Ahly hold the record for the most Egyptian Super Cup titles with 15, while Zamalek have won the trophy four times. Arab Contractors, Haras El Hodoud and Talae El Geish have each lifted the trophy once.
