Basketball: Ehab Amin delighted to extend stay with Al Ahly

Al Ahly basketball star Ehab Amin has expressed his delight after signing a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2028.

The 30-year-old point guard reaffirmed his commitment to adding more silverware to the club's trophy cabinet in the coming years.

“Staying with Al Ahly is a tremendous honour,” Amin said. “As players, we will spare no effort to bring joy to the millions of fans who have always stood by us.”

Amin paid tribute to the club's passionate supporters, saying: “I’m truly grateful to Al Ahly’s incredible fans for their constant support — both for me personally and for the team. I owe much of what I’ve achieved to them. They’ve always had my back, and I love them dearly. I’ll continue to fight for more titles to make them proud.”

He also spoke of his emotional reaction to the public response following the announcement of his contract renewal: “I was deeply moved by how the fans reacted after I signed. My goal is to remain at Al Ahly until the end of my basketball career.”

Looking ahead to the new season, Amin acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome them, especially under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Linus.

“We have a demanding season in front of us, but with a top-tier coach like Mr. Linus and a talented squad, we’re ready. We’ll also be competing in the Basketball Africa League, and we’re determined to win it and earn a spot back in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.”

Amin added that the team will soon depart for Serbia for a pre-season training camp aimed at strengthening chemistry between new and returning players, while also integrating the tactical approach of the new coaching staff.

Their first official test will come in the Egyptian Super League’s "Dawry El Mortabet" tournament, the curtain-raiser for the new campaign.

“Everyone in the squad is giving their all to win and make our fans proud,” Amin concluded. “Al Ahly supporters are always our greatest strength and biggest source of motivation.”
