Al Ahly captain Mohamed El Shenawy revealed that the team is fully focused on the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup against Al Duhail SC and nothing else.

Al Ahly will take on Al Duhail SC on 4 February in the first round of the competition at Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan. 

We had an exclusive interview with El Shenawy to discuss our opening match in the competition and the support that the team received from Al Ahly fans in Qatar. 

“We are focusing on our match against Al Duhail SC. We have much respect for them and there is no talk about the possible clash against Bayern Munich as we are taking this competition step by step.” El Shenawy said.

Al Ahly are participating in the FIFA Club World Cup for the sixth time in history, with our best achievement coming in 2006 when we won the bronze medal. 

The Red Eagles’ captain added, “All the players have the desire to win the opening match and write a new history for this generation of players in the FIFA Club World Cup.” 

Al Ahly fans in Qatar warmly welcomed Al Ahly’s delegation upon arrival in Doha and asked the players to achieve the best results possible in the competition. 

“We are very happy with the warm reception from Al Ahly fans and their support for us since our arrival. We promised to do our maximum to make them happy. Al Ahly fans will be in the stands to support us, which will be a great motivation for all the players.”
