El Shenawy shows Al Ahly readiness for Ceramica Cleopatra in Egyptian Super Cup

Al Ahly skipper Mohamed El Shenawy said the team are fully prepared for their Egyptian Super Cup semi-final against Ceramica Cleopatra, which kicks off at 5 p.m. Cairo local time (GMT+2) on Thursday.

The goalkeeper said the squad arrived in the United Arab Emirates with high ambitions and a strong desire to add another title to the club’s collection.

“We’re happy to be in our second home, the UAE, and we thank everyone for the warm welcome and excellent organisation. We always receive great support here,” El Shenawy told reporters.

The 36-year-old praised Thursday’s opponents, saying: “Ceramica are a strong and well-organised side performing well in the league. We prepare seriously for every match, and in a competition like the Egyptian Super Cup, our focus is always on winning.”

El Shenawy added that the team are in good physical and mental shape, highlighting the contribution of younger players. “The young players are an important part of the group, and together we aim to make our fans proud,” he said.

“We’ve already won the new-format Super Cup before, and now our goal is to claim another title, the third edition of the tournament,” El Shenawy added. “Tomorrow’s match will be a big challenge, and we hope to lift the trophy again under coach Jess Thorup.”
