
Khatib: Women’s Basketball Africa title a strong motivation to stay on top
El Al Ahly SC president Mahmoud El Khatib congratulated the women’s first-team basketball squad and technical staff on winning the Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA), hosted by the club, securing the title for the first time in the club’s history.
Speaking at a ceremony at Al Ahly’s Gezira headquarters, El Khatib said he was delighted to see the players’ smiles after the victory, describing it as the culmination of significant effort to remain at the top.
He emphasized that every victory carries value, regardless of the competition, and said the African championship would remain a source of pride for the current generation of players, particularly when recalling the moment of triumph.
El Khatib stressed the importance of building on the achievement and focusing on future goals, underlining the need for continued work and dedication to sustain success.
He also praised all the players, including those with limited playing time, for their positive spirit and strong camaraderie, calling their commitment and harmony a major asset.
The president concluded by thanking Ahmed Hassan, president of Sporting Club, for their partnership in the achievement, and expressed gratitude to the championship’s organizing committee, led by board member Mohamed El Garhy, for successfully showcasing Al Ahly’s professionalism.
