Match Report: Al Ahly 3-1 Misr Lel Makkasa

Al Ahly started the 2020-2021 season of the Egyptian Premier League in style after defeating Misr Lel Makkasa 3-1. 

We started the game with a frontline pressure to score the opener, and as a result we got a corner kick in the second minute, but we missed the target. 

In the fourth minute, we got a penalty as the opponent's goalkeeper tackled our winger Kahraba inside the box. 

Maaloul gave us the lead from the penalty spot to allow us to have more control on the game. The Red Eagles dominated the game as we were seeking to extend our lead. 

Mohamed Sherif missed a great scoring chance after a brilliant cross from Maaloul, but El Makkasa's defender succeeded to keep the ball away from the net. 

Our players kept the pressure to score another goal, but Misr Lel Makkasa’s team applied the offside trap to defend their net. 

In the 41st minute, we conceeded the equailizer from Marwan Hamdy's header. The game was then tightened in the midfield until the end of the first half. 

The second half began, and our coach Pitso Mosimane substituted Taher by Nasser.

We succeeded to score a goal by Mohamed Sherif, but it was disallowed by the referee after checking the VAR. 

In the 54th minute, Benoun shot a strong ball but it missed the target.

The Red Eagles kept their attempts, and once again we missed the net as the bar blocked Kahrab's shot in the 60th minute. 

After several attempts, Kahraba scored the second goal as he received an wonderful pass from Afsha to give us the lead once again. 

Since then, Al Ahly dominated the game and we kept our pressure to score the third goal, but the opponent's defense succeeded to block all the shots away from their net. 

In the 81st minute, Mosimane used his bench again as he substituted Kahraba and Sherif by Dieng and Salah Mohsen.

As the game went by, El Soulia scored the third goal in the 87th minute after a brilliant cross from Maaloul. 

In the 90th minute we made another substitution, as Afsha left the pitch and Geraldo took part in the match.

Our player Nasser Maher was forced to leave the pitch during the last minutes of the game after suffering from a shoulder injury, and he was substituted by Akram Tawfik.

The final minutes went on and the referee blew his whistle and we secured the first three points in the new season.
