Thorup targets first trophy with Al Ahly in Super Cup semis against Ceramica Cleopatra

Al Ahly head coach Jess Thorup believes the upcoming Egyptian Super Cup semifinal against Ceramica Cleopatra will be a crucial step in the team’s pursuit of the title, expressing his ambition to claim his first piece of silverware with the club.

“This is my first time taking part in the Egyptian Super Cup, although I’ve been to the UAE before for training camps with other teams,” Thorup said during the pre-match press conference.

“I hope this tournament will be an opportunity to win a new title with Al Ahly. After our last match, I emphasized that we’re always working to improve our performance and constantly looking ahead to take the next step.”

The Danish coach also voiced his excitement about seeing Al Ahly’s passionate supporters in the stands.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing our fans tomorrow against Ceramica Cleopatra,” he said.

“I know how devoted and enthusiastic they are. I’ve already witnessed their incredible support on many occasions, and I hope they turn out in great numbers to back the team with full force.”

On the team’s readiness, Thorup confirmed that striker Mohamed Sherif took part in training on Tuesday, while midfielder Emam Ashour joined part of the session.

“Our goal is clear: to reach the final by winning tomorrow’s match,” Thorup concluded. “I always say that attack wins you games, but strong defense wins you championships. That’s the balance we’re striving to achieve at every step.”
