Trezeguet brace lifts Al Ahly past Young Africans in CAF Champions League

Al Ahly winger Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” scored twice as the Egyptian champions defeated Tanzania’s Young Africans in the third round of the CAF Champions League group stage at Alexandria’s Borg El Arab Stadium on Saturday.

The Red Eagles controlled proceedings from the outset against visitors who sat deep and looked to threaten on the counterattack, creating occasional danger.

The in-form winger Trezeguet gave Al Ahly the lead deep into first-half stoppage time, rising to head home a precise cross from Mohamed Hany.

Goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir ensured the hosts remained in control, dealing confidently with Young Africans’ chances.

Al Ahly stepped up their performance after the break and Trezeguet struck again to double the lead, finishing clinically after a perfectly weighted pass from Emam Ashour put him one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The victory keeps Al Ahly top of Group B with seven points from three matches, while Young Africans remain on four points.
