Al Ahly are back to the top of the league table after defeating Ceramica Cleopatra 2-0 tonight in the Egyptian Premier League, thanks to goals from Walid Soliman and Mahmoud Kahraba.
The game started with strong determination from the two teams to control the game's tempo, but we threatened Ceramica's goal after a cross from Beckham which missed Bwalya's header.
In the 17th minute, Taher's shot was blocked by the opponent's defense and it went to a corner kick. Maaloul took the corner kick but his cross was blocked by Ceramica's defense.
Benoun missed another scoring chance as his shot was saved by Ceramica's goalkeeper Amer Amer.
In the 33rd minute, our new signing Bwalya shot the ball, but it went to Amer's hands without any danger. We had another chance by Dieng, whose screamer missed the target. The minutes went by and the referee blew his half time whistle to declare a goalless draw.
Our coach Pitso Mosimane started the second half with two substitutions, as Mahmoud Kahraba and Afsha joined the game instead of Ahmed Beckham and Taher Mohamed Taher.
The game was tightened in the midfield, but in the 55th minute, we missed a dangerous scoring chance as Kahraba failed to open the score despite being one vs one with Amer.
We kept our attempts to score the opener, and in the 66th minute Maaloul sent a brilliant cross, but Bwalya's header missed the target to keep the match scoreless.
Again in the 77th minute, we missed another scoring chance as Maaloul's shot missed the target.
Our coach Mosimane used his bench once again in the 77th minute, as Bwalya left the game and was replaced by Mohamed Sherif.
In the 79th minute, our winger Mahmoud Kahraba scored the opener from a cool finish after receiving an impressive pass from Afsha.
In the 85th minute, Sherif missed the ball in a one vs one situation, but Kaharaba's followed the ball and put it in the back of the net. However, the goal was denied by the VAR as it was offside.
In the 90th minute, Mosimane made another substitution as our veteran Walid Soliman joined the game instead of Hussien El Shahaat.
Walid needed only 6 minutes to add our second goal in the game to secure a 2-0 win for us and send Al Ahly once again to the top of the league table.
