Al Ahly began their Egyptian Women’s Premier League campaign in convincing fashion, defeating Palm Hills SC 3-0 on Sunday.
Soraya Ashraf led the charge for the defending champions, scoring twice, while Noura Khaled added a third late in the match to secure all three points for the Red Eagles.
Al Ahly were reduced to ten players shortly before half-time after midfielder Alexandra received a red card, but the numerical disadvantage did little to disrupt their dominance.
Ashraf opened the scoring shortly before the break and extended the lead just three minutes into the second half.
Khaled sealed the win with a header three minutes from time.
Al Ahly will next face Ittihad Passion FC in the second round of the domestic competition.
