Al Ahly take on Abu Qir Fertilizers in Egyptian Premier League

Al Ahly’s senior football team will face Abu Qir Fertilizers in the fifth matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. at Cairo International Stadium.

The game will be the first meeting between the two sides in the history of the Egyptian top flight.

It marks Abu Qir Fertilizers’ first season in the Premier League, making them the 10th team from Alexandria to compete in the competition, following Al Ittihad Alexandria, El Olympi, El Tram, Al Greek, Al Baharia, Haras El Hodoud, El Krom, Smouha, and Pharco FC.

Al Ahly will be without defenders Amr El Gazar and Yasser Ibrahim, who sustained injuries during their previous 1-1 draw with Arab Contractors last week.

The new season will retain last season’s format, with some modifications.

The 20 participating teams will compete in a single-round first phase, with each side playing 19 matches.

The top six teams will then advance to a Championship Group, while the remaining 14 will compete in a Relegation Group, with four teams set to be relegated.
