Women’s football: Al Ahly claim resounding 6-0 victory over Zamalek
Al Ahly’s women’s football team secured a resounding 6-0 victory over Zamalek on Friday at Zamalek’s stadium in the second round of the league, maintaining their strong start to the competition.
The Red Eagles delivered a dominant performance throughout both halves, controlling the game and sealing a comprehensive victory over their rivals.
The result takes Al Ahly to six points after they opened their league campaign with a stunning 19-0 win over SAK. Al Ahly needed just one minute to break the deadlock.
Awa Caset capitalized on confusion in the Zamalek defense inside the penalty area and found the back of the net to give her side an early lead.
The visitors continued to apply pressure and dominate possession after the opener, while Zamalek attempted to fight their way back into the game.
However, Al Ahly remained the more dangerous side and doubled their advantage late in the first half through Nadine Ghazi.
The second goal followed an outstanding individual effort from Nora Khaled, who made a clever run between the lines before delivering a perfectly weighted through ball to Ghazi inside the box.
Ghazi fired a powerful shot into the bottom-left corner, leaving the Zamalek goalkeeper with no chance.
Al Ahly went into the break 2-0 ahead. Al Ahly resumed the second half with the same attacking intensity, giving Zamalek little opportunity to regroup.
Ghazi struck again in the 48th minute, reacting quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area and turning it into the net to make it 3-0 and complete her brace. Ghazi completed her hat-trick in the 54th minute, adding Al Ahly’s fourth goal.
The move was initiated by Habiba Essam, who delivered a precise ball into the penalty area, allowing Ghazi to finish clinically and cap a remarkable individual performance.
Al Ahly continued to dominate as the match entered its final stages.
Nour Youssef added a fifth goal in the 76th minute, before Awa Caset completed the rout from the penalty spot in the 88th minute.
The final whistle confirmed a commanding 6-0 victory for Al Ahly, extending their perfect start to the league campaign.
