Al Ahly eye extending winning run against Arab Contractors
Al Ahly’s senior football team are scheduled to face Arab Contractors in the fourth matchday of the Egyptian Premier League at the latter’s stadium on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CLT (1700 GMT).
The Red Eagles opened their Egyptian Premier League campaign with a 3-2 win over Enppi on the opening matchday before beating ZED FC 2-0 in the second round.
They then defeated Smouha 1-0 on the third matchday last week. Al Ahly have faced Arab Contractors 83 times in the league since the latter were promoted to the Egyptian Premier League in the 1978-79 season.
Al Ahly won 60 of those matches, while Arab Contractors won seven, with the two teams drawing 16 times.
The new season will retain last season’s format, with some modifications.
The 20 participating teams will compete in a single-round first phase, with each side playing 19 matches.
The top six teams will then advance to a Championship Group, while the remaining 14 will compete in a Relegation Group, with four teams set to be relegated.
Al Ahly will look to keep their perfect record intact in the Egyptian Premier League, having collected nine points from their opening three matches.
