El Khatib Reveals His Message To The Players Before Zamalek’s Game

Al Ahly’s President Mahmoud El Khatib revealed his message to our players before the CAF Champions League final against Zamalek, which Al Ahly won 2-1.

“CAF Champions League final was a big game against a big opponent such as Zamalek SC. I told the players to put all their efforts and leave the rest on God.”

“I noticed that everyone was stressed before the game and I went to talk with Pitso Mosimane, our head coach, and Sayed Abdelhafiz, the club's Director of Football.”

“I was worried after the opening goal because the team's performance declined. However, the equalizing goal was important for our players to return to the game.”

“Thankfully, we managed to improve our performance and score the winning goal and win the title. This is mainly God’s gift to our players because of their commitment.”

Lastly, Captain El Khatib praised the team’s performances throughout the tournament especially when we faced tough opponents in the final stages of the tournament.  

The Red Eagles were crowned champions of the CAF Champions League competition for the ninth time in the history of the club after defeating Zamalek 2-1 on the 27th of November.
