Al Ahly held to 1-1 draw by Arab Contractors in Egyptian League

Al Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw by Arab Contractors on Wednesday in the fourth matchday of the Egyptian Premier League at the latter’s stadium.

The Red Eagles started the game in high spirits as they looked to secure an early lead, but their efforts were thwarted by the Arab Contractors defence.

Arab Contractors took the lead six minutes before halftime when Eslam Gaber converted from the penalty spot.

Coach Hussein Ammouta was forced to make a substitution one minute after the break, introducing Hady Riyad to replace the injured Amr El Gazar.

Al Ahly dominated possession in the second half, with winger Achraf Bencharki being fouled inside the area to earn the Red Eagles a penalty.

Ahmed Sayed Zizo converted from the spot to secure the equalizer for Al Ahly in the 59th minute.

A minute after the equalizer, Ammouta introduced midfielder Emam Ashour and Ahmed Reda in an attempt to strengthen the attack and secure all three points.

Hussein El-Shahat was introduced with six minutes remaining as Al Ahly continued to press the Arab Contractors defence.

With Wednesday’s draw, Al Ahly have 10 points from four games in the Egyptian Premier League.

The Red Eagles opened their league campaign with a 3-2 victory over Enppi, followed by a 2-0 win over ZED FC, before defeating Smouha 1-0 in their previous outing.
